Grandparents

This past weekend included a day that not many people are aware of or celebrate...Grandparents Day.  In fact I'm feeling a bit bad because it's a day I've always thought was special to celebrate how special grandparents are...and I fell short in doing something special for my grandma and our kids' grandparents (even though we saw both of them...I guess spending time together is probably more important that cards and cakes anyway:).  I had it in my mind, but in the whirlwind that is our lives, I didn't do anything and I'm feeling bad.  I remember when I was younger, I went over to my grandma's house and made a big sign for her and I think even made her some sort of cake.  It was fun to celebrate having her in my life.  So my apologies for not sending cards or making a cake grandmas and grandpas, all of this really was in my thoughts this past weekend.

But now on to what we did.  Ed's parents stopped by for a visit at the end of last week.  Ed's mom had the important job of fixing Mollie's much-loved giraffe.  That's what grandma's do!  Mollie's giraffe is in much better shape and we are thankful  for the new life her giraffe has been given:)
Then the old jump rope got pulled out and Ed's parents helped Sam attempt his first tries at jumping rope.  The girls wanted so badly to be involved in the process and I'm pretty sure Mollie may be jumping rope soon too:)  There's not much that girl can't do when she puts her mind to it.

Then this past weekend we went to visit my parents who are camping and volunteering at a state park.  It was a good opportunity to have some new adventures.
They had found a restaurant where food and drinks are served via a train that runs on a track around the bar.  Needless to say, the kids LOVED it:)
Outside the restaurant where unlimited adventures for the kids to do...just look at this slide!
I think everyone's favorite were the peddle cars.  We were all on these for a long time.
Especially Sam...it was amazing how well he could drive the peddle car through the trees and around the course.  He peddled and peddled and peddled!
We also took a car ferry for a short trip from the mainland to a small island.  It was a fun new experience, especially to see the cars loading on and off the ferry.  It was a fun weekend and fun time spent with grandparents.  Thanks for squeezing us all into your camper!
Thanks to both of our grandparents for being such a special part of our lives!
