Sam's birthday was this weekend and we now officially have a 6-year-old in the house! He asked for a classic car themed cake this year, and although I had bigger plans of what I would have liked to do, DQ came through for us with this ice-cream cake:)
Sam was SO excited for his party and even helped clean up and rearrange some tables for people to eat at. I was really proud of how much he helped to get things ready.
It was the first year he could read some of his birthday cards, and my grandma gave him one that he thought was pretty funny. It was cute to see him read and laugh!
He always likes to have his cousin Livia help out with the presents. Usually she gives him ones to open, but this year he even let her open the ones from her family.
Here was our group of kiddos for the party. Cousins along with our 2 next door neighbor girls. I wish I could have had all of their conversations captured on tape!
Sam with cousin Will:) They were both wearing yellow shirts with cars on them:)
On Sunday we made our first family trip to a lake for this summer. It was fun and we look forward to visiting more lakes this summer.
The kids were anxious to get in the water!
Then, just by chance on our trip to the lake, we came across this Go Kart for Sam. He has been saving money for months and months to buy a peddle car. He hasn't bought a single thing...even money from the tooth fairy has been collected in his "cash box" to be put toward a peddle car (which he fell in love with after riding them in Door County last year). But we passed by this on the road and went to look at it, and Sam decided a Go Kart might be even more fun than a peddle car:) It needs a little work to make it easier for Sam to drive, but with a few adjustments, it will do the trick. It will be a great project for Sam and Ed to work on together. Sam should have some good times driving around the yard in it, in years to come! Now I'd say that is a pretty cool, very unexpected, birthday present!
We love you SO SO much Sam. You bring so much joy and laughter into our lives. We love watching you grow and learn and look forward to seeing all of the new things you will accomplish this year We hope it is a super, fun year!
Goodbye 5, Hello 6!!!
