California Thanksgiving

It seems as though it has almost become a tradition for us to spend Thanksgiving with Ed's Uncle Doug and Aunt Denise in California. When we lived in Las Vegas, we spent many weekends, including Thanksgiving, with them since they were only a 4 hour drive away. Here was my post from our trip to visit them in CA last year for Thanksgiving. This is not the most flattering picture of us...esp. of me:) but it seems to be the only one we have of all of us together, so I must include it! This was before we ate the yummy Thanksgiving dinner Doug and Denise had prepared for us when we arrived on Thanksgiving Day. We always enjoy meals with them and enjoy finding new recipies and sharing old favorites.

Our goal this year was to find some fun activities for Sam to enjoy while we were there, and I think we succeeded! He has a Kidsongs video called "Cars, Boats, Trains, and Planes" that he just loves, and most of it was filmed at the beach in LA. So we were on a mission to go to some of the places on that video. What fun! Below we rode the train at Travel Town...

As much as Sam enjoyed the train ride, I think his favorite was his first ride on a carousel at the Santa Monica Pier. He didn't want to brave the horses, but enjoyed riding in the carriage and requested a second ride after the first was finished. He talks about the carousel constantly and wants to go on again!

He also had his first ride on a ferris wheel which was also at Santa Monica Pier.

And last, but definately not least, we enjoyed the most beautiful day at the beach. The weather was perfect and we all soaked in the sun and all the fun activities that the beach has to offer. Sam woke up the next morning talking about sandcastles and playing football with Daddy and Uncle Doug...it was so cute. He played and played in the sand and did not want to go home. Somehow I don't think the snow we will be getting soon will replace the sand that he enjoyed so much:) We are so thankful for this wonderful day we were all able to spend together at the beach!

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It's easy to focus on daily trials that may bring us down, but it is so important to remember all of the things, big and little, that we have in our everyday lives to be THANKFUL for.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Love all of the pics of LA. I finally re-found your blog link. Sam is such a cutie and looks like he had a great time in the sand.
