Off to the Races!

My friend's dad works at a local racetrack on the weekends and offered to give us a behind the scenes look.  Sam is at the perfect age where we thought he would enjoy the whole experience, so we were all excited to check it out!

 It was a long evening, filled with race after race, but Sam hung in there through it all.

The first half of the night was pretty uneventful, but the second was filled with crash after crash.  Fortunately no one was injured, which was pretty amazing considering a quite serious crash with the cement wall/fence/flagman's steel stand that happened right in front of us.  

After the races, we were able to walk back to the "pits" and meet the drivers as well as see all of the cars.  Sam was even able to sit in a couple of cars thanks to my friend's dad.  Dream come true for a young boy!

Put this boy behind almost any steering wheel and he has an instant smile.  He sure loves cars and trucks and tractors and WHEELS!

We had a very fun night and hope to bring the girls along next year so that they can have some racing fun too!
