Feels Like Summer

It's finally starting to feel like summer around here.  We are still dealing with some unusual weather...wet and often cooler than normal, but we are slowly getting outside more and into a summer routine.
Yesterday we tried painting on the driveway with some sidewalk chalk paint.  The kids enjoyed the painting, but I think they enjoyed hammering the chalk into powder best.  Nothing beats a hammer for entertainment!

All 3 have been asking to ride bikes in the driveway everyday.  They have also been pushing some strollers around the driveway.  Every time I start to wonder what we are going to do when they tire of a certain activity from doing it so much, they seem to come up with something creative on their own.
We gave Sam this foam rocket set for his birthday last year and it has been played with A LOT.  It's quite entertaining for all of us and it seems that the kids love anything that flies very high into the air:)

Mmmmm...it wouldn't be summer without at least 1 strawberry pie!  Sam was begging to go pick strawberries as soon as we got back from Nebraska.  We may have to go one more time before they are done with for this year.
And the kids have been enjoying homemade popsicles.  Nothing seems to make them happier than a popsicle for a surprise snack.
My garden is finally starting to take off.  It's been an interesting summer to try to grow things so far.  Without the heat, things are just growing so slow.  But we'll get there eventually!  We enjoyed our first broccoli tonight with supper.  The kids loved watching it grow and it was fun to cut it and bring it in for supper!
Last night we had our first supper outside.  The kids love nothing better than eating outside, then running off to play.  It was the perfect night for it.
And our sandbox is starting to see good use again.  We are in great need of more sand and are having trouble finding where we can get some (the box is huge and we don't want the bags of play sand from Home Depot).  Hopefully we'll find a place that can help us out soon.
Summer is off to a good start and we look forward to all of the fun things that we have planned and things that are yet unplanned.  We are anxious for it to get a bit warmer so that we can start going to the lake/pool and swim, swim, swim!  But for now are keeping busy with other summer things.

It has been cool and rainy. I want HOT. We finally got to go swimming at Elkhart Lake yesterday. It was cool for the first half and when the rain clouds went away it actually felt nice.
Hopefully the hot weather will come and stay for a nice long time. :)

You are inspiring me to 1) do more fun things and 2) document it in my blog!

It was so great to see you in Nebraska!
